How to Identify:
This species of hoverfly has a brown body with matching legs. The abdomen of this insect is yellow with 2 black stripes that go around the entire body. The yellow from the abdomen is also present on the face with the large brown eyes that distinguish this species from hornets. They also are distinguished from hornets by the lack of a stinger.
